Welcome to my site!
This site contains twelve stations for a First Grade unit on Probability and Statistics. Each station works best with two students per group, but groups of 3-4 are not impossible. The stations and site are based off of the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOLs), namely VA Mathematics SOLs 1.14 & 1.15. Those standards read as follows:
1.14: The student will investigate, identify, and describe various forms of data collections (e.g. recording daily temperature, lunch count, attendance, favorite ice cream), using tables, picture graphs, and object graphs.
1.15: The student will interpret information displayed in a picture or object graph, using the vocabulary more, less, fewer, greater than, and equal to.
At the top of the page you will find tabs to link to each station. Each station will have instructions for setting up the station, a list of materials needed, links to or copies of recording sheets, formative and/or summative assessment ideas, differentiation ideas and more! A few of the stations also have "I Can" Lists or Math Talk Cards to stimulate discussion in during the station. Please feel free to look around; I tried to make the site as easy to navigate as possible.
This site was created as part of an undergraduate course in the Teacher Licensure Program at the University of Richmond. I invite you to contact me with any questions, suggestions or concerns. My e-mail address is [email protected] or you can just fill out the contact form below. Thanks and happy teaching!
