At This Station Kids Will... use the data from the survey they took at Station 4 and graph it. Students may choose to graph only one set of data or may be pushed to graph more than one set of data. This will allow them to practice creating picture graphs and reading numbers from tables and converting it into graphs. Make sure that your students have had sufficient support in whole group and small group teaching to be able to convert data in a table to data in a graph.
Differentiation: At this station there are three different graph types, like at the earlier stations, that are scaffolded for students of different levels. You can also choose to challenge other students by giving them the raw data and allowing them to interpret it and separate it themselves. Students who need extra assistance will have all of the information neatly organized for them in the charts.
Formative Assessment: While students are graphing data either from a table or from raw information, you should hear them discussing how to graph with their partner(s) or working frivolously on their graphs.
Summative Assessment: At the completion of the station, students will turn in their graphs for you to check for accuracy and that they understand how to graph. |
