At This Station Kids Will... choose objects out of a pile, bucket or container and graph them based on color, size, shape, object, et cetera. Students will work together in this station to make multiple graphs, one after another, and see the different ways they can graph and classify different objects. You can choose Legos, dinosaurs, robots, base-10 blocks, erasers, markers, or anything that your students may be interested. It is important that you include a variety of objects.
Differentiation: This station can be differentiated by providing students who need extra help with examples or suggestions of how to classify objects. These can be found on the Math Talk cards. Students can be challenged by classifying a variety of objects or by thinking about their own classifications.
Formative Assessment: While walking or looking around you should hear students at this station talking about different ways to graph. The Math Talk cards will prompt this discussion.
