At This Station Kids Will... play a game where they practice the terms greater than, less than, and equal to. Each student will have a spinner that will land on a number. They will each spin the spinner twice to create two two-digit numbers. Then, by circling one of the terms on the recording sheet, the students will determine whether the first two-digit number is greater than, less than, or equal to the second number.
Differentiation: Since this station was found pre-made on the Internet it is slightly harder to differentiate. Students needing more of a challenge, however, could be asked to create larger numbers with more digits. Students needing more assistance could compare on single-digit numbers. Challenge students to include the <,>, = symbols as well while they work.
Formative Assessment: While walking around the stations you should see students engaging with the spinners and recording their results on the recording sheets. You should hear students reading the numbers out loud and discussing which term applies to each particular problem.
Summative Assessment: You can collect the recording sheets at the end of the station to see student work and to make sure that they are using the vocabulary words correctly. |
